Tainted by an intergenerational family feud, Grassroots follows the story of two teenage boys in rural Eastern Cape competing for a scholarship at a prominent boys school in Johannesburg. This hierarchal environment tests the notion of their identity and manhood as they seek acceptance from an institution that is foreign to them.

  This never before seen coming-of-age story is sure to touch the heart of each and every viewer.

Throughout their journey, their moral fibre is seriously tested as they search for their own definition of manhood. Ultimately the question becomes: Are these two boys ‘man’ enough to forgive one another for the sins of their parents and overcome the betrayals of the past?

Starring Oros Mampofu, Lihleli Tini, Zikhona  Sodlaka, Justin Strydom, Luzuko Nkqeto, Sibulele Gcilitshana, Connie Chime, Lerato Mvelase, Senzo Radebe, Nambitha Ben–Mazwi, Khayakazi Kula and more, Grassroots drops us into a world of rivalry and family secrets all while putting an emphasis on transformational issues facing our country as a whole.
